About Stefan Trienekens
Stefan Trienekens holds a B.S. in Neuroscience from Tulane University, which was ranked among the top ten neuroscience programs at the time. He teaches biology, chemistry, physics, and math.
Mr. Trienekens has extensive experience tutoring small groups of up to four students in biology, college-level remedial math, writing, physics and history. He believes his success stems from the fact that he does not emphasize memorization but rather understanding and relating scientific concepts to everyday experiences, “I have yet to meet a student who forgot how electromagnetic radiation interacts with matter when I compare it to fluorescence and the sky’s blue hue.”
He believes that, “Persistence can overcome every student’s shortcomings, perceived or real,” and that “inspiring curiosity is my most potent learning tool.” Incorporating online tools is an important part of his lesson plans which make extensive use of shared screens and whiteboards.
In addition to teaching, Mr. Trienekens is a talented jazz guitarist who has performed at some of New Orleans’ most prominent jazz clubs, alongside such notable musicians as Delfeayo Marsalis and Maurice Brown.
